E6520 and E6430 - using same HDD?

    I have an E6430 from work. The issue is, I'd rather use a 15" Latitude, with numpad, 1080 screen, etc.

    So, can I just swap the drives? The E6430 has HDD encryption, and BIOS password.

    I know the drivers will be a bit mismatched, but I'm hoping that it would boot and work OK enough to fix the little things.

    Any issues with this? Let's think of all the possibilities before I get a caddy.

    It's really a crapshot with these kinds of things... sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't; the only way to find out for sure is to try it :thumbsup:

    Hmm :( I was hoping somebody with both a SB model and an IV model wouldn't mind being a guinea pig!

    Well, I've used a hard drive with windows 7 64bit that belongs to a E6430 in a E5520 if that helps.

    Thanks a lot! It does. Was it already set up and run in the E6430 before being put in the E5520?

    That's what I'm thinking. Will test and confirm.

    We use the same image for all E6x00 E6x10 E6x20 and E6x30 machines. roughly 700 machines.
