E6500 WUXGA screen corners dark, being replaced

    The thought had occurred to me, but after further thought, I don't see how it can be the case. Backlight is integrated into the LCD. As part of the replacement package, they also send me the entire back cover of the screen, which includes and replaces all the wires as well as the LCD's inverter.

    Tech support guy showed me how to do a raw test of the LCD, where the LCD panel apparently is capable of doing a test of itself without being provided any input from the system. You do this by waiting on the screen test and not saying yes or no to whether you saw the test pattern and after a while the raw test will automatically start. This rules out anything on the system other than the display hardware itself being at fault.

    I really don't know this could be, other than both LG and Samsung WUXGA panels suffering from corner darkness.

    So it's possible it's your graphics card or integrated graphics?

    The way the tech explained it, the panel itself is running the test on that raw display test, without input from the graphics chip. That test is designed to rule out problems other than with the display panel.

    Does anyone else with an LG panel have any shadows at all in the bottom corners?
