What are the differences in these? Is it mostly the GPU?

I did a quick compare of the 2 on dell.com and as similarly configured as I could get, the M was $280 higher. Even running CAD occasionally I'm not sure I would get the value from the better GPU, and the E6500 is available in RED!

With the amount they're discounting the E6500's in the outlet, unless you *really* need the extra GPU, for intense 3D stuff, you can get an amazingly good value from an E6500 right now!

I wonder if the ones in the outlet are the returns that lock up 5 times a day. (I've been reading in the "E6500 lounge" thread.)

We (my wife) got one of the outlet ones, and she's been using it solidly for three days. So far so good.

dell will not sell a returned unit until it is refurbished. this means a change of keyboard, along with some other components.

if the returned unit was returned because of an issue, it is sent to the DTS team to troubleshoot. if the issue cannot be fixed, it is logged in the system and passed on to the relevant team

if it can be fixed, it is fixed and sold or the faulty part replaced and then sold

im not sure what the procedure is for scratch and dent

I was reviewing their outlet listings for the E6500 last night. They have a LOT of them, and some of them would be very good deals, especially if you don't need a lot of hard drive space. By the time I found one with a faster processor, and more ram and hard drive space, it was pretty close to the price for a new one.
