I'm used to the trackpad of the Inspiron 8600 which is accurate and responsive. By comparison the trackpad of the E6500 is not very responsive. I can move my finger 1/3 of the way across the trackpad before the cursor responds, and even then the cursor will lag behind my fingertip. There are no programs running and this is a machine with a fast processor so it isn't "busy" at the time. The settings of the trackpad have the sensitivity set on the sensitive side of the midpoint. Should this behavior be normal?

I've got the touch sensitivity on my E6400 set left of middle, and the speed is 3/4 of the way to the right.

Ensure you have upgraded to the latest trackpad drivers (Go to Dell's website, Support and enter your service tag or model number).

The updates improve the sensitivity and performance of the trackpad significantly.

is "touch check" on? its to avoid accidental movement if its brushed by your palm etc. turn it down, or turn if off completely.

    should work

edit: the touch check thing is under mouse setting in control panel
