E6500 Plug Defective?

    Is this normal for e6500 laptops - the plug does not sit flush with the back when fully inserted, its got about 1/8" showing. Please check your e6500 with the AC adapter inserted:

    It's the same on the E6400 so it is presumably by design. The PSU is common to several notebooks so having a longer plug gives the notebook designers a bit more tolerance on the thickness of the material through which the plug passes.

    Is it charging?
    I had a problem like yours and I found that the peg inside the top of the charger was bent.

    The peg does not seem bent, it does charge but it will not plug in any deeper than shown.

    same on the M4400, on both systems i had and also with a third adapter i got as a replacement, none went in all the way.

    same as my E6400.
    the technician even asked me whether my plug is defective last time.
