Looks like Nvidia's Windows XP driver has an issue with Postscript and OpenType fonts. TrueType fonts work fine, but putting OpenType or Postscript fonts into Window's font folder generates error messages. I've researched this issue on the web, and a thread on Adobe's support forum indicates that Nvidia's latest drivers (which ship with Dell's Latitude/Precision notebooks) are the root of this problem. I can't believe that Dell ships notebooks that can't use OpenType fonts!

So far, I haven't been thrilled with my E6500. The first machine was DOA. The second machine's backlit keyboard doesn't light up. The power management feature was flawed (now fixed with a new release). And now I find out that Dell's Nvidia drivers can't even render fonts properly.

    SOLVED!

I found new drivers at: laptopvideo2go.com/drivers?dev=06EB&sub=024F1028&whql=0&lang=0&orderby=version&dir=desc&os[]=xp

    The 178.15 driver works! Yeah!

I did need to download the specialized INF file before the driver would recognize my video card.
