Flashing numlock LED (other two on) indicates: "possible processor failure", but my CPU turns out to be working. I replaced with a same CPU from a second working E6500 – and it continues to fail to boot with the same symptoms and flashing numlock. So I put the CPU from the first E6500 into the second, and it works.

So wondering what else to troubleshoot. I love this particular laptop and really want to get it running.

This is one of the situations where I would do a full disassembly / reassembly (including taking out / replacing the RAM) in case the underlying problem is with a bad contact somewhere.

Otherwise can you find a replacement mainboard on ebay?
