Got a new E6500 last week, and I love it! I got the audio crackling to go away, though there are minor latency spikes every couple minutes, that however don't affect the audio/video. The screen is wonderful, the keyboard, everything.

But one thing that bugs me is that when the fan starts going it will never stop. According to HWMonitor, my processor (P8800) can be at 29-30 deg C (right above ambient!) and the Nvidia card at 43 deg C and it won't stop! It's extremely annoying.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Is your laptop attach to a Dock Station? If so, remove it and see if it helps after some time.
You can reset the fan sensor by doing Fn+Z with the keyboard (press and hold for like 1-2 sec). If it doesn't work, then the fan can't' be slowed down as teh system is too warm.

Use Everest (http://www.lavalys.com/products.php?ps=UE&lang=en&page=48) to monitor the FULL system temperature (RAM, CPU, Motherboard, GPU, HDD, and more, all accurate). The software is a paying one, but the trial should fit your needs at the moment.
Temperature are located at Computer > Sensors, within Everest program on the left side column.

Alternatively use HWMonitor, which is free.

Can I get some more input on this from fellow owners? Does your E6500 fan constantly run? Sit in a silent room and see if it's loud or not... I'm worried mine might be defective.

Also, for some reason this thread doesn't show up when searching E6500 fan

Dont' use HWMonitor... use Nvidia temperature monitor. This is for sure showing the right (as best as possible) the correct temperature.

At your temp's, my system fan doesn't turn.

Of course I am on the E6400... and not E6500; which, unlike your mighty E6500, it uses a share heatsink. Sadly something is broken. Probably a circuit is broke on the motherboard that controls the fan speed. Contact Dell and see what they think, but i highly doubt that your situation is normal.
