Greetings, folks. I'm a newbie here, just joined today, and have a question about the Bluetooth module on the Latitude E6500. I just purchased a refurbished E6500 for my wife from Dell (DFS), and it appears this one did not include the Bluetooth module. I would like to purchase and install one if it's not too much trouble, and am asking if anyone out there can provide me some guidance/insight. I have removed the bottom cover of the machine (how easy was that!) to look around a little, and saw a "loose" (unconnected) little blue wire in the vicinity of the Broadcom module up and to the right of the fan. Can anyone tell me where the Bluetooth module is supposed to be located, and how easy/hard it is to install. I know I could purchase a Bluetooth mini-dongle, but the Bluetooth modules appear to be pretty cheap and if it's an easy install I'd just as soon do it that way. If I need to start going more in-depth in disassembling the machine I'd rather not. Thanks for any help you can provide. Peace out.

You saw it right. It is very easy to install. Get the bluetooth card from like Ebay. You need small size screw though to install. Same screw that locks in your Wireless card. Make sure you have that.

Upper right corner is where you install. That blue cable is only one needed for bluetooth. That's really it man. Plug it in, screw it in, put in the cable right, then install the drivers.

No problem. Part of buying the business line is easy expandability by the end user.

Sir Dell: Am I correct in assuming that the attached image is indeed the Wireless 370 Bluetooth mini-card? I found the image when I searched for the card to buy one. However, this is the exact card that is indeed already installed in my wife's E6500. I've been searching online for a couple days (off and on) and reading a lot of posts about the difficulty in "activating" the Bluetooth card in this machine. Can you provide any insight as to how to do so? I found a post about activating the Bluetooth in the MS Mgmt Console, and when I went into the Console I did have to "start" Bluetooth, but that did not get it moving. Thanks again for all your help!!!

    Yup that is the card.

You have to successfully install the drivers. dell.com/drivers

The driver itself should "activate" it properly. Yes in the past I had some hiccups ranging from M4400, M4500, E6500, E6400 in getting it activated. I think this is what you read online.

Try installing the driver and let me know what happens. After successful installation the device manager should successfully "recognize" the card without a yellow triangle next to the name that indicates not so successful utilization.

Sir Dell: Finally got the Bluetooth working, and the new MS 5000 mouse for the wife. I actually was on a chat with Tech Services (still under warranty) for over 2 hours trying to get it sorted out. We both had trouble locating the driver for the 370, but once he found it, everything wrapped up smoothly. Thanks so much for your assistance. Now if I can just figure out how to rid my Inspiron 9300 of two "Application Error" popup messages: "McSvHost.exe" and "spoolsv.exe". Fortunately they don't really impact performance, but they are annoying. Have a great weekend!

Or course, you'd think Dell would properly configure a "refurbished" machine before sending it out, but... I got a great deal on the unit, so I can't complain. Thanks again!

If I remember correctly, spoolsv has something to do with printing service. Not much a software guy, rather a hardware guy.

Google it to see the specific directions to remove the problems.
