E6500 Blu-ray upgrade options

    Does anyone know of an DVD-ROM option that would allow the E6500 to play Blu-ray discs?

    There is not one right now, I spent days looking. The closest match is a BC-5500S Sony Slim Blu-ray combo. It is tray load and SATA but was too tall to fit in the bay. I also checked the drives off all the other Dell systems and none will work in the E-Series case.

    I have a Latitude E6400.

    Business customers aren't exactly clamouring for Blu-Ray, but I think you can rest assured that there will be eventually a Blu-Ray option for the E-series Latitudes. That's why they changed the type of bay, the back-end infrastructure (SATA-based), etc.

    Give it another 6 months I figure.

    I haven't seen any 9.5mm thick Blu-Ray drives but I am sure they will come.

    Aren't the new Lenovo bay drives 9.5mm too? They have a BR option.
