After upgrading my E6500 from BIOS A11 to A12 I do get crackling noise on my Terratec 6Fire USB sound card on the analog lines. It's not because of the well known Vista latency problems. I reverted back to A11 and the problem is gone.

I have no idea what causes the problems, so I can only guess something in the BIOS causes the USB isochronous data mode used by sound card drivers to fail partly.

Anybody else here with a USB sound card and E6500 w/ A12 BIOS or similar USB problems with A12? Any idea what causes the problem?

Seems like Dell is causing more and more problems with the latest drivers (latest Intel Matrix drivers cause all sorts of problems here... now A12 BIOS...).
