Just ordered one from the outlet. It's nice to "catch up" family wise.

I ordered from these guys for my Vaio Z. Fitment was a 9 out of 10 and honestly, only someone super anal about the lines being perfect and loves to put there face up to the computer to examine it would even notice.

    Yea it is! well...sort of.

I have a Latitude D630, and my fiance is getting the E6420 to replace her old Pentium M Thinkpad. I was originally going to get a Thinkpad due to the terrible look and feel of the E6400/6410's, but now that Dell has gone away from the cheeper plasticy feel, I thought an E6420 would be a good buy for an early birthday present for my girl.

I'll be interested down the line to see if Intel's Ivy Bridge CPU's are supported by the E6420. The desktop Q67 chipset will support them, but no word on if mobile QM67 will support them. Much lower power consumption, and 50% better graphics sounds like a nice little drop in upgrade to me!

At least for earlier/other models (6510 and 6410) you could just swap the keyboard to backlit one and it worked well.

Totally, while the earlier E-series were great notebooks, they didn't feel quite as nice as my D630...the E6420 though...it does and then some.

Since I've got the switchable graphics I'm probably not worried about Ivy Bridge, unless the integrated part is a major upgrade from the dedicated card. :)

Congrats and hope your GF likes it! :)

Yes, I have done exactly that with my 6420. The one I bought was OEM, not aftermarket but purchased from a chinese supplier who likely gets them from the same source as dell. Has a dell part number etc on it. Works and looks identical.

Just received one from Dell outlet. It has 2540M cpu, 4GB RAM, 320GB, bluetooth, WiMAX 625, Intel vPro, Win7 Pro x64, etc.

Top notch refurb. Not a single scratch on it. Looks brand new to me. And only for $477.33. It's an upgrade from my 4 year old Latitude.

I was reviewing my order and I chose a system with the NVS 4200M graphics. On my "build list" it says that the NVS 4200M has 512 MB of video RAM, but on nvidia's website (Tech Specs) it says the card has 1 GB of RAM.

Not that it matters too much, but I was thinking of doing a bit of light gaming, so I was just curious...who's right: Dell or Nvidia?

My fiance's E6420 just came in and boy is it nice! Finally a worthy successor to the D630; it only took to generations! This thing feels even nicer then my D630, in that instead of a a very solid plastic, it is much more metallic feeling.

I am thinking about reloading it, it had 86 processes running right out the door, and when I drag windows around fast it is a little laggy. I updated the drivers to the ones off Intel's site and that seemed to help some.
