Did you check your order confirmation email to see that the right panel was ordered on the original order? On my order, I have the following line item in the confirmation: 13RV9 Module,Cover,Liquid Crystal Display,HD+/FHD,E6420. Hope that helps in your replacement order. I have had better success chatting or emailing order support to resolve issues. Hope that helps.

Curious, when the tech came out to change the LCD, did they replace the entire screen assembly with the magnesium backing or did they have to take the panel apart and only replace the LCD screen itself?

Use online chat for support. Far less hassle.

    Hi Guys,
I have installed the Dell Acess Driver, Middleware and Application in that order.

But when I try to enroll a fingerprint, it cannot recognize it. I just keep swiping nothing happens.

No drivers missing from device manager.

    Its driving me crazy.

    Any help is much appreciated!

I'm having a problem with the E6420 and Dell's port replicator. I'm running the A04 BIOS. When the laptop is turned on while in the dock the external monitor (using DVI) will not turn on until the laptop boots to the Windows 7 login screen.

An earlier post said this was fixed in A02. See here:

Does anyone have any ideas? I would greatly appreciate it!

Did you install ControlVault driver? If you did, you're screwed. Rebuild your machine. If you didn't and your fingerprint reader is not working....you probably have a bunk reader. I had a couple of them as well.

I think your config on your laptop probably is the 768 screen. The only way you get a wrong screen in your notebook and a wrong replacement screen is if it was ordered with the wrong screen.

I'm selling the e6420's here in the NBR Marketplace (see sig) and the first few I got had the 1600x900 screen with the Intel HD Graphics and it worked fine. All the new ones I have now are nVidia Graphics with the 1600x900 screen, and they work fine too.

Dell support can be a pain. You need to tell them what you want, not allow them to 'support you.'

Yeah, its pretty lame...cost saving I imagine. FWIW, I use my laptop docked 90% of the time...I just take the battery out. :)

I did install the controlvault driver...:)

So, I should install only Data Access Drivers right?
