A little bit of an odd question but I just got an E6420 and happened to notice in Device Manager that there's a listing both for
    O2 Micro Integrated MMC/SD Reader
    and
    O2 Micro Integrated MS/MSPRO Reader

As far as I'd seen in all the marketing/advertising, as well as the manuals, the card reader merely says it's an "SD Card Reader" with no mention of MS support at all. Even the slot on the actual laptop just has the SD logo and nothing else.

So I was thinking, "why is there a listing for MS/MSPRO reader if there's only one slot and there's nothing mentioned about MS ability anywhere?". I even searched on google (and here) and didn't see anyone mentioning it.

Out of curiosity I decided to try it (with the laptop off/unplugged so as not to damage anything)--I put an MS Pro in there and it went in properly just as it's supposed to. So I tried again in Windows and sure enough read the MS fine. So clearly it is a combo MS/SD slot.

I've used Sony laptops that have the combined reader slot (for SD and MS) but of course those are advertised as such and have the MS Logo printed right near the slot along with the SD logo.

I'm definitely glad it can read MS too, but why would Dell never mention this anywhere? That's it's a combo slot? Unless I've missed mention of it (which I don't think I have), isn't it a bit weird they'd never state MS support anywhere?

It's possible that they don't want to mention a competitor in the product literature, but it could also be a running change (for example, if the supplier discontinues the SD-only reader). If you've got ProSupport, they might have a better answer for you.
