    idunno,

Dell's Windows 7 reinstall DVD will just be an OEM install of Windows with some Dell drivers on it. There should be a few other CDs with the webcam software, etc... My package included a small baggie with a screw in it for the optical drive, did your box have that, maybe you overlooked it?

You're very lucky to get that fingerprint reader! I ended up with a smartcard slot too, although I have no idea what those are used for :)

I concur on the viewing angles, not the best, but ok for my uses. I was very happy with the keyboard so far, as it is much like a Lenovo keyboard (which I'm used to) with stiff keys that are very responsive! I like the silver lid too, which I was apprehensive about before, and the trackpad is responsive.

For the price we paid, I'm satisified! I wouldn't buy it again if it were $1200+

doh. haha, yeah, the screw is in a baggie... thanks for that!

EDIT: I had already initiated a chat session with Dell Support, so I mentioned the keyboard and they're sending me a new one :)

did you upgrade your warranty? I thought we had to mail in the laptop to get it worked on! I am super-excited if they'll just ship us parts!

nope, just the base warranty. figure i can do most repairs myself, and am ok sending it in if i need to.

they call this a "parts only" repair--they're sending me the keyboard, and gave me a link to instructions on how to replace it. i'm pretty happy they're willing to do that, considering that it works fine. My exchange with the support agent:

Me: "the right hand shift-key seems a little uneven, and the left side of it sticks up higher than any of the other keys, but only a small amount"
Agent: "I see. Are the keys still working?"
Me: "yes, it just doesn't look good, and i'm not sure if it's normal... i don't think anyone would ever design something that looked like that"
Agent: "Would you like to replace the keyboard for your system?"

    nice how easy that was!

In case this has not already been mentioned, Dell has just posted the nVidia 257.29 drivers as of less than two hours ago. I just tested some basic applications, including Adobe Photoshop CS5 with GPU acceleration support, and have zero issues thus far. This driver should also include GPU acceleration a la Flash 10.1 for those that may find this feature useful.

Bought my E6410 refurbished and it came with PC Card. Can it be changed to Express Card if I want to later on? I don't think I will ever buy any addons for it, but just wondering.

Also can Intel vPro be removed to save battery?

    Thanks
