    Hi all...

A customer of ours is interested in getting a new XFR. While building it on Dell's site, I found that HDDs and SSDs are available to choose from. I would prefer to order it with an SSD simply because it means less moving parts that can break, but I don't want to order it and then find out that the read/write speeds are much lower than the HDDs.

Does anyone know which SSDs Dell uses in the XFR? Any read/write speed info would be great.

    Thanks for any help.

The SSD options are 64GB or 128GB, which are listed as shock-mounted. The HDD sizes are 80GB and 120GB, so I presumed that they only list smaller sized drives for realiability or power consumption. Also, no one would normally use this as their personal primary notebook so drive space isn't an issue.

I would expect the HDD option to be the shock-mounted 1.8" as in the E6400 ATG. Hence the capacity limit, but performance isn't as good as the 2.5" HDDs. SSD is the best way to go if you can afford the price premium.
