I've owned a lot of latitudes in my day but man this thing is killing me.

I have two problems that I cannot figure out.

#1 when in the e port (not eport +) I cannot get it to recognize the external monitor over DVI. I'm looking to use it as an extension of my notebook screen. It just will not detect. I have the latest drivers and everything. Nvidia, dell utility or vista will not find it. I haven't tried it over VGA but that is because I really don't want to have it hooked up that way.

#2 I have an unknown device that is showing up in device manager. I cannot figure out what it is. Then Device ID shows up as USB\VID_413C&PID_8149&REV_0100

it seems to be something using the Usb bus/hub.

Thanks to all that can help....

Have you contacted Dell? It sounds like there could be something wrong with one of the connections. Have you tried to use another cable to see if is a bad cable? It sounds like more of a hardware issue then a software, I have the EPort like you and have tried several monitors VGA and DVI with no issues. Also try the VGA on the laptop to make sure that works. I wish I could be more helpful.

It looks like it is working fine on the vga port on the eport. I'm going to try new drivers here from laptopvideo2go. i'm downloading them as we speak.

the unknown driver issue is driving me crazy though. I have no idea what it would be.

    thanks for the help.

#2 A quick search on Google suggests the unknown device is the Bluetooth chip. Have you installed the Bluetooth drivers?

I finally just got the video working . I got the newest nvidia drivers off of laptopvideo2go and with a bit of plugging and unplugging i was able to make it work.

as for the bluetooth drivers yes I do have them installed however i did see the driver install on an xp machine and there is a uwb component that shows up down in the systray on those machines... in the vista install i do not see that. I'm wondering if it could be the uwb piece however I don't see a separate install for that piece anywhere.

Just got it working... you are the man. I went back to dell's site and had to look at the older drivers for the bt410. turns out it isn't really an older driver but the 2nd piece needed for the install. you have to install both pieces.

thanks a bunch for helping me narrow it down.
