I received my E6400 from the Dell Outlet last Thursday, and so far I have had a lot of trouble with the machine rebooting and a weird noise coming from the left side of the keyboard (harddrive maybe). Almost everytime I close the computer and open it later, it freezes within seconds. I'm thinking I should just go ahead and return it because I don't want to deal with all these problems when I go off to school in the fall. What do you guys think?

That's what I would do. Either have them fix it or return for exchange or refund.

Chat with technical support and let them know what's happening. While there's no telling what they'll say, here's what happened in my case.

I informed tech support I was having an issue with my outlet purchased E6400. They offered to build be a brand new machine, which I accepted. The new machine was atually upgraded quite a bit over what I initially purchased without asking. I would say give them a chance to make things right.

Thanks for the advice. I just tried updating a few drivers and it seemed to help but if I have any problems throughout the day tomorrow I'll just exchange it or like you said call them and try to get a new one.
