I just received my E6400 on Monday and unfortunately I am already having problems. This does not bode well at all.

First: There are multiple dead pixels on my LCD. Dell has however agreed to switch out the LCD.

Second: The touch pad drivers seem to stop the vista busy cursor from animating. Not a huge deal but it is very annoying and honestly could be a deal breaker for me.

The first problem is solved but the second one seems like it is a software problem. Knowing how those go it my never be solved. Now I am debating whether I will have to send back my new laptop because of a stupid driver issue! Has anybody else had a problem like this and if so does anyone know of a fix?

Can't you change the mouse pointer in Control Panel > Mouse Properties > Pointers? Maybe change it to some other scheme and then back to Aero?

That was the first thing I tried it doesn't work. My problem seems to be very similar to the problem that can be caused by securrom. As far as I know the only way to fix that problem is to restart the computer. However that does not fix my problem because the driver loads at startup. I can fix the problem by uninstalling the driver but then I will not be able to use the advanced touchpad features like scrolling and zoom.

Have you uninstalled and reinstalled the driver?

I'd uninstall the driver, reboot, reinstall the driver, reboot.

    See what happens.

I already did that with no success. After further testing I realized that the animation does not stop until I touch the touchpad. If I only use the trackstick there is no problem but the second I touch the touchpad the cursor animation stops immediately.
