That is not the problem they are facing. The problem is that these GPU heats up like at around 50C and the system throttles. My guess is that the BIOS freaks out with a certain motherboard revision or system configuration, that is all.

Oh, you're right. I had GPU throttling, they have system (= CPU I presume) throttling.

Sorry for messing things up. Still, I recommend those with the problem to let Dell give it a shot at repairing (they will probably replace motherboard/CPU/heatsink or a combination of those) and if that fails, ask for a new laptop.

How did you get this new system? Did you ask Dell for it? I already had my motherboard replaced which did not solve the problem of course... but I feel like they won't accept if I ask a brand new system.

EDIT: oh, that's apparently what you said on the previous post... was it hard to get them accept to send you this new laptop?

If after motherboard + heatsink replacement your system still have the issue, and it's not a system from the outlet, Dell will build you a new one, as it it would be cheaper than to send another technician 2-3 more times to replace other parts such as the base of the laptop and encounter future problem from broken connectors or miss plug-ed device, scratches and more

E6400 BIOS A15 has been posted today.
There's no mention of the throttling problem among the fixes.

I'll ask the contact who was looking into my case. In fact they asked me to participate in a bios test but I never heard from them again.
I suggest everybody who has a case with Dell that is related to this throttling issue does the same.

Maybe Dell doesn't want to say it.

Shoot! I was really hoping that this BIOS revision would fix the problem once and for all. However, it is still throttling. To say the least, I am very disappointed in Dell.

I see some changes in the fan speed ramp up/down with BIOS A15, which for me at least improved the noise levels. Thats both docked and undocked, oh and thats with the Intel graphics.
