Could one assume that E6400 notebooks with the T9400 are older or earlier versions then the notebooks with the P9500 ?

I'm not sure. If you look at the outlet there are few previously new system available. If I remember right the T9400 came out at the same time as the P9500  Seems you can't even order the E6400 with a P9500 anymore

If I recall correctly, the T9400 and P9500 were released at the same time, so no, you shouldn't assume that.

The reason why you can't order the P9500 is because it has been succeeded by the P9600, which will soon be succeeded by the P9700!

    The P7350, P8400, P8600, P9500, T9400 & T9600 were all part of the intial Centrino2/Montevina last July (2008).

The newest wave are the P7450, P8700, P9600, T9550 and T9800 were released at the end of December. The P7350, T9400, P9500 and T9600 are being phased out....I'm not sure about the P8400 & P8600, though.
