I have just reinstalled my laptop with Vista for the 2nd time since I purchased it. Today had an endless BSOD of 0x0000000A and nothing I could do would get rid of it. Everything tested out OK.

Anyway, after a fresh install and installing all the drivers I am left over with a 5880 in the device manager.

    Hardware ID:
    USB\VID_0A5C&PID_5801&REV_0101
    USB\VID_0A5C&PID_5801

I can't seem to get rid of it. The best I could come up with was BT driver. I have installed the 370 driver twice. It working fine so I don't think it is that.

    Any ideas?

Did you first install the system software before any other drivers?

There isn't a download listed for the smart card reader. Only the Ricoh driver... am I just missing it?

I could not find that exact hardware ID on my E6400 but I found one that is extremely similar.

    Hardware ID:
    USB\VID_0A5C&PID_5801&REV_0101&MI_00
    USB\VID_0A5C&PID_5801&MI_00

The device is the Broadcom USH CV w/ Fingerprint Swipe Sensor. If you don't have the fingerprint reader that could account for the difference.

You said you installed the Control point security manager driver but did you install the application? I am not 100% sure but I from what I can remember from when I reinstalled vista on my system the Broadcom USH CV w/ Fingerprint Swipe Sensor was unknown untill I installed the Control Point Security Manager Application.

Heres the link to the Application: http://support.dell.com/support/dow...1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=25&fileid=269465

Heres the link to the Driver:
    http://support.dell.com/support/dow...1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=25&fileid=269157

edit: My initial search did not include looking through my Universal Serial Bus controllers section of the Device Manager (there are just so many of them) but I just did and I found that exact ID listed as a USB Composite Device. Regardless I think that if you haven't installed the Security Manager Application you might want to try it and see if it fixes the problem.

    Logan,

You were correct as it does require the software to get that driver working. Not just the drivers! I installed the application after reinstalling everything at least twice, but even after a reboot it would not find it! I finally shutdown the laptop and then cold boot and it found the driver.

    Very strange....

So the 5880 is in the CP Security Manager Application and not the Driver package.

    Thanks for the help guys!
