    Hi,

Just got my E6400 with the LED WXGA+ (1440X900) screen. My first reaction is what a hell! I got these lines on the screen, its almost as its only displaying every second line or something.

Maybe its the display drivers.. so i start testing different drivers but no luck, it wont change. See below for example:

    http://www.twitpic.com/iovz5

Should it be like this? Do I miss the right drivers? My monitory sais General PnP, not any specific.. I'm using windows 7 x64. If its hard to see the vertical lines let me know and i'll try to get better pics.

    Thanks for any input
    /Johan

Have you tried connecting an external screen to see if the image is correct?

If it is, your video card is busted and you need a replacement.

If it's not, you probably need a display replacement or at least the cable needs to be reseated.

Ok, i seem to get alot of strange stuff on the LED screen now. I will check with support and see what they say. But its safe to say that i shouldn't get vertical lines? Not even when booting and in BIOS?

Will try the external too. Thanks

Of course you shouldn't. The LED screen looks like a normal CCFL screen, only brighter and with slightly less contrast in colors.

Before they do, you should try to test on an external screen. If the external screen works bad too, the problem is not your screen and you will replace it unnecessarily.

Make sure they include a screen FRAME (also called bezel), these things are not designed to be removed and put back.. it may be lose. If you don't have one... call them and request it. I had that problem when I replaced my LCD (I had a finger print on the REVERSE of the screen film.. I guess an employee miss handled the screen at LG :)

I tested with external and it was fine.

The service guy was just here, swapped screen and everything is perfect now. Less then 24h from my service call and issue solved, i like that!

Goodbytes, the frame seems fine after the replacement, guess i was lucky! The service guy said that they sometimes break and he didnt have a replacement with him so i was almost worried there a while.. it really looked like he was about break when he removed it. :)

Must say i love the LED screen.. really nice compared to all other ones i seen recently.

Great, glad your issue was fixed.

And yeah, Dell's business support rocks...
