    Hey,

Ugh, so I reinstalled Vista 64-bit Business on my laptop. And I've installed all of the drivers which are working, but my wifi drops out every 20-30 minutes. I've done some research and found this isn't uncommon...so I installed the lastest Intel drivers, disabled all of the power saving features on my wifi card/DCP. But, it still disconnects! What the heck!? I might have had this same issue in Windows 7, but I can't really remember. All I know is that when I tried to back it up using WHS, it would always fail.

Anyway, anyone have any other ideas?

*EDIT* Just deleted DCP, let's see if that works.

    Thanks,
    Eric Huang

I had this problem right after i installed vista, but the problem occurred less and less over time. Now I only run into once a week or so.

Deleting DCP did NOT make the problem go away...

Make sure the router is giving out long (many hours) leases of IP addresses.

Also check the router is running the latest firmware.

My Linksys router is at the latest firmware and is preforming normally. I did read about how the Intel Wifi 5300 drivers are finicky with Linksys routers though... I suppose this matter isn't important as I won't be using this network for awhile.

I'm seeing this issue as well. Intel 5300, not always, but often when I try to backup to WHS, it will drop connection and fail. I'll see in the lower right that the connection to the Internet now has a yellow problem icon. Running Win 7 RC. Using a Linksys WRT54G with Tomato firmware.

Rarely, if ever, see this except when backing up to WHS.

That's the exact same issue I had with WHS...but I'm on Vista now and am not going home for awhile.

Theros123, out of curiosity, did your E6400 come with the Intel 5300 or did you add it yourself?
