You mentioned "non-burning CD drive". What did you mean. I actually tried to burn an ISO yesterday to my drive and for some reason it kept rejecting the DVD. I tried DVD-R and DVD+R, which according to the message displayed was an acceptable variety, but it would not burn to it. Just wondering if I'm missing a driver or something. I was using Roxio 9.0.

Yes, I ordered the dock also, but haven't used it yet. Just like the AC brick, it's downsized quite a bit. Very nice and the mechanics of it seemed to work very smoothly. I'll be hooking it up at the office tomorrow.

To tho who own it, what's the keyboard flex like? Is it minimal or noticeable? Does it affect heavy/lengthy typing sessions?

I would also like to know.

Looking, perhaps, for a replacement for my treasured T43. An excellent keyboard for me is extra desirable, a nicer screen than my t43 would be a bonus.

At least my T43 screen isn't hard on the eyes due to its general dullness.

In Australia the e6400 turns out cheaper than the T400 by around AUD500.

How is the driver support for 64bit? Where'd you find the drivers? Did you get the Quadro NVS or the integrated?

Seriously, I can't see any flex at all. The tactile feedback is absolutely perfect. And the keyboard is very quiet compared to previous Dell's that I've had. Overall, I'd rate it excellent, including the layout.

I had a T43 before I got my T61, which I still have. I had a number of issues with it, some attributable to Lenovo's poor support for Vista when it first came out. Finally, had to reinstall Vista but still had too many issues. It's now hooked up to a dock and tethered to a 47 inch LCD/TV.

The screen is bright without being harsh and it's definitely matte.

The keyboard is superb. I just can't raving about it. A number of previous Dell models allowed you to get your finger stuck on the edge of a key as you were typing. This one does not exhibit those characteristics at all. Absolutely wonderful to type on. Just so you know something about my preferences, here is my list of features that I use to evaluate laptops.

    1. LCD
    2. Keyboard (I'm a touch typist so it's got to have a good keyboard)
    3. Size and weight. I like them as light as possible, but they must have a full size keyboard and all the necessities... DVD, decent battery life, big hard drive.
    4. Build quality.

This one definitely measures up to my Macbook Pro and I selected it because I was so impressed with its features and build quality. I run Windows in Parallels.

I don't remember 64bit Vista as an option. When I did a clean install of Vista Business, I used the driver disk that came with it. Just as easy to download from the Dell website.
