Hey, you know if it's possible to change the built-in Intel graphics card against Nvidia with just software?

    thank you.

No, it is completely different hardware inside. You cannot upgrade the GPU in the E6400.

Hi, ty. Sorry if my msg was not clear. What I try to ask is if its possible to switch between the intel gfx and nvidia, via software in OS. I have heard that new centrino 2 make this possible.

    sorry for my bad eng.

The switchable graphics ability is in the chipset but will only work if the computer includes both GPUs. Lenovo have done this on the T400 and T500 but Dell offers either one or the other.

Thank you John. So if I understood you right. When I order E6400 I choose Nvidia from the list. And I get this ability? because I cant see a option to have both intel and nvidia.

Switchable graphics is not supported on the E6400

So it'll be either you're running completely on either the X4500 or the NVS160M

Just get the Intel part. There is no reason for a more powerful GPU, unless you game or use intensive 3D applications.

No I will not use it for gaming. But photoshop, blend, flash and that kind of stuff as well.

That's all 2D graphics which mainly depends on the CPU and RAM and, for 2D stuff, the Intel GPU is at least as good as the dedicated GPUs.
