Hi All, E6400 comes with 10/100/1000 ethernet card. However if you connect the laptop to 10/100 router, it will always connect at 10Mbps. I have other laptops with 10/100 ethernet card and it can connect at full speed 100Mbps. Why E6400 chose to connect at 10Mbps?

I have checked the setting is Auto-Negotiate:
    - E6400 connects at 10Mbps
    - other laptop connects at 100Mbps

I use same cable & same router. When my sony connects via ethernet cable, it connects at 100Mbps, but my Dell connects at 10Mbps only.

I had an issue like that with my Acer. Certain routers like specific NICs. I don't know why. When I set my Atheros on AutoNeg (default) it was recognized by my school's router as 10MBps, while my friend's XPS 1530 (I think Marvell), it showed up as 100MBps. If you don't connect to other routers via wired, just manually set it to full duplex 100MBps.

The card is set by default to lower the link speed to save power.

    To check/change it:
Go to "Network Connections" > Local Area Connection Properties > "Configure" > "Power Management" tab > Make sure "Reduce link speed during battery operation" is unchecked.

    Hope this helps

DCP will also change this setting... usually it will go to 10mbit on battery, but 1gb on AC
