    Hi,

Has anyone out there any information on the integrated contactless reader in the E6400/E6500?

I know it's based on the Broadcom 5880 chipset, but not much else. Even Dell can't tell me much, other that it's supposed to support RFID and ISO 14443.

I'm looking at developing a RFID application to which would use the Dell reader if I can find any information.

I can access the contacted smart card reader OK (PC/SC) but nothing on the contactless reader.

    Thanks in advance

    Aidan

    Hello aidanc,
I have the same laptop and the same problem than you. I have run my applicattion using the contact interface but I would like to use it whith the RFID contactless interface. Did you solve the problem? If you already know how to do it I will really appreciate your help.
You can contact me on: [email protected]

I've had no news or response from Dell or Broadcom about their hardware.

This is pathetic... They provide much coolness in a product without even being able to support it.

The last updates (BIOS and security) were most welcome because I can use my fingerprint reader for security purpose now. Speed of the various security apps using TPM was much improved.

Now my next step was to test both card reader, but I can't even find a card that works! Both of my rfid cards from work aren't detected by the contactless reader. All of the cards with security chip I tried can be read either.

I at least I knew what to use I'd be 100% happy :). But even Google can't give an answer on this.

    Keep us posted!
