I recently purchased an e6400 off of the business outlet, and everything is in working condition. However, upon insertion of the cd disk tray, there is a sound which I have never prior heard coming from a cd drive (boilerinvasion.org/2010/VORC003.wav for a recording. IE7 will open it, IE8 will not). I went ahead and contacted CS, and they overnighted a replacement, which I put in, but it still has the same sound, though to a lesser degree as far as I can tell.
    1. Is this normal, or is this a problem with the dvd drive/notebook as a whole?
    2. What should I do about it? I'd rather not have to send back the entire computer, since replacement of the unit may not be an option (and I got it during the 20% off coupon, so I'd have to wait for another one on a refund).
    Any suggestions?

If it is indeed crackling you might also want to search for DPC-Latency in this forum. There you will find many temporary solutions fixing most of that for now (not 100% perfect but very well)
