E6400 Dual Battery shut down

    I purchased a blade battery for my Dell Latitude E6400 to go with the existing 9 cell in the back. I can run the laptop off either battery individually fine but if they are both installed at the same time the laptop shuts off after about one second. I was able to charge both batteries with the ac adapter while they were both installed, but as soon as I unplug it shuts off after about one second. Any Ideas?
