Hi All, I do fresh install Windows XP, everything seems to work fine and in the power setting, I chose to "hibernate" when I close the lid of my computer. Now when I close the lid:

    1. it seems that the NB hibernates.
    2. but when I opened it up again press enter button and other buttons, the NB woke up, I can hear the "ding" sounds from Windows, but the screen never wake up.

Can somebody help? I did thousands of installations and this is the first time I encountered this problem.

Have you tried asking Dell Technical support? You might think they suck etc, but they're actually pretty helpful.

Which version of XP did you install?

This is the type of problem which used to occur a few years back and have been fixed by patches which have been included into SP3. The graphics driver is another possible cause of problems. Intel or nVidia?

I have a similar problem with my E6400. I've got the Dell pre-installed Vista Business 32Bit running. When the notebook goes to sleep (lid closed - Power LED blinking) and I want to wake it up, I can first see a glimpse of my desktop while opening the lid, but then the desktop goes black (while backround is still lightened). If I connect an external monitor I can use that one - but I can't get the internal LED display running. Seems to be some problem with the graphic card drivers? Anyone have an idea how to fix this problem?

    I've a similar problem with my M2400...

I've re-format & did a clean installation with MS XP prof SP 2 and the problem went away..

Note : When installing the drivers, i started with the system utilities first, follow by chipset drivers, then video driver , follow by the rest of the drivers.
I think it's important to follow in this order ( told by a dell tech support )...

    Regards,

Uninstall web cam driver 1.05.02.1227 that worked for me. It seem it was in the driver updates from MS sometime last month.
