    Hi

When I hooked up an external monitor to my E6400 laptop only narrow range of resolutions
    were available.
The required resolution was not listed.

Do I need to get some drivers to solve this issue?
Right now my internal screen listed as generic pnp monitor.
I have the WXGA+ monitor, where can I get the right drivers for it?

Does the Intel 4500MHD video card support the 1680x1050@65 resolution?

    Thanks

    your TV is most likely a 60HZ TV, and not a 65Hz.... refresh rates are 60Hz (59.997 or 60.001), 70, 75, 85, 100, 120, 240...

    This might explain your problem.

The generic display drivers is of no concern, unless you use a high end monitor where you need to load a color profile of the manufacture.

How do you explain the fact the I couldn't see the right resolution for my 19" crt?

Do I need to change something to get other resolutions when connecting the external monitor?

    Let's do some diagnostic...

    - Attach an external mouse (you will need it).
    - When you plug your external monitor, close the laptop lid... do you see the correct resolution now? While the laptop lid is closed, try to set the correct resolution. Does it work now? Try the other display... remember to use 60Hz.

    What is your Operating System?
