Fresh load of Windows 7 x64 7229 and when I put my machine into standby the battery seems to drain incredibly fast....almost like it is on. I will standby the machine before I go to bed and in the morning it's dead with 0% battery. I used to do the same thing with my D630 and in the morning I would have 85% or so on the equivilant 6 cell battery. Is there something I am missing. I can live with hibernate, but I prefer standby for the quick start up.

    Thanks for any help!

Does the Event Viewer (under Administrative Tools) show any events in the system log while the computer is meant to be asleep.

Is so, it isn't sleeping. Or maybe something wakes it up part way through the night (the log will show this). For example software checking for updates.

    Interesting event in the log:

The system has resumed from sleep.

Sleep Time: ‎2009‎-‎06‎-‎19T00:11:32.030070700Z (UTC time, it was 5:11pm)
Wake Time: ‎2009‎-‎06‎-‎19T00:29:21.677610900Z (UTC time, it was 5:29pm)

    Wake Source: Device -ACPI Lid

Went to sleep for 18 minutes. Then the inevitable:
The previous system shutdown at 5:32:28 PM on ‎6/‎18/‎2009 was unexpected.

Something bombed 3 minutes later, the machine restarted and probably sat waiting for my fingerprint until it ran out of juice. Nice.

    Only errors I have are
System log: 5:29pm - The local Bluetooth adapter has failed in an undetermined manner and will not be used. The driver has been unloaded.
System log: 5:31pm - The server {AB8902B4-09CA-4BB6-B78D-A8F59079A8D5} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
Application log: 5:31pm - The NTRU TSS is not running, Wave Software is unable to communicate to TPM
    5:32pm - BOOM!

    Two thoughts:

    1. If you have a BIOS password then you can set the BIOS so that it doesn't ask for a password when resuming from standby. I had a problem where this stopped the computer automatically going from standby to hibernate.

    2. You can change the power management settings of some devices in Device Manager to make sure that the device can't wake a sleeping computer.

From your log data it appears that Bluetooth might be a culprit.

I could not get Bluetooth working in Windows 7 and so I disabled it. Haven't run into this issue yet.

I think the Bluetooth is sketchy on this machine for now. I had a D630 and I was able to use a keyboard and mouse simultaneously, now there is a "stutter" when I go to use one after using the other.

Few months I am sure there will be proper drivers.

I can use 1 device at a time as well. Once I try and use two....then I have an issue.
