Anybody have any luck finding a better LCD to upgrade the Latitude E6330 or E6230? The screen that comes with this laptop sucks.

I know you can mod an x220 IPS screen into an E6220/E6230 with not too much effort (some guy did it before; try searching for the thread), but I haven't seen anything going for the E6320/E6330. I presume it's possible; it's always just a matter of finding a compatible panel (if it exists).

I'm not sure if the OP's question was answered else where but...

I too am looking into upgrading the LCD for the e6330. There is a LG 13.3" 1600x900 IPS LVDS panel that is available but requires a 2ch LVDS connection. The e6330 only shipped with 1366x768 so I'm not sure if the motherboard LVDS connection supports 2ch. However, there are 40 pins I believe on the LVDS connector so it may be remotely possible.

Does anyone know if the e6330 motherboard LVDS connector supports 2ch?

I believe the E63xx series does not support a 2ch LVDS connection. I remember seeing a thread where someone tried to swap a 1600x900 LCD into a E6420 and it did not work due to the connection not being compatible.

Do all laptop LCD screens use a standardized LVDS connector? Apple has a 1440x900 13.3" LCD in their Macbook Air that might be a good upgrade option if it fits. It's not IPS, but it's higher res than the standard E63xx display and even Apple's TN panels are supposed to be quite good.

Other than that, most of the 13.3" IPS panels are touchscreen and higher res (1920x1080). There are a few 13.3" IPS panels which are 1366x768, but they are mostly all touchscreens and probably wouldn't work.

If 1ch LVDS is all that is supported then upgrade options are limited to HD displays, which is unfortunate. Couldn't find an IPS 13.3" 1366x768 LVDS panel on panelook.com. I'm guessing all the better quality displays are edp based.

Isn't 1440x900 a 16:10 display? There may be issues fitting it in a 16:9 notebook like the e6330. Not sure about all screens using a standardized LVDS connector. I'm guessing the physical connectors are the same but wiring and pin layout is different across models.

Old thread bump but i am wondering the same thing,

Since i am running a u3011 as spare monitor the problem cant be the 4000 chip cant handle the resolution, and both the replacement lcd and the original have 40pins, the cables should fit.

Is it the motherboard connector only a 30 pin? and then only 30-> 40?

Or does it need a bios mod for higher resolutions of an internal monitor, Perhaps crossflash with a e6430 bios?

in this thread he goes from 1ch to 2ch.
