E6230 only supports 8G RAM max? Can anyone tell me the truth? Does it support 16G RAM? Thanks a lot.

It should. It has the same memory controller as the other Latitudes, and people around here have 16GB Ram in their Latitudes.

In general I've found Dell isn't very accurate with their memory number.

The memory controller is within the CPU, if you look up Intel website it will state the maximum RAM supported. If you want the additional piece of mind, my i7-2720QM handles 32GB Intel® Coreâ„¢ i7-2720QM Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.30 GHz) and my i5-2520M is 16GB Intel® Coreâ„¢ i5-2520M Processor (3M Cache, up to 3.20 GHz).

Intel removed the need of having the memory controller in an external north bridge controller chipset.

32gb with the 2720qm and 3720qm is with 4 slots in the Precision (and Lenovo W, etc) -- remains to be seen whether individual 16gb DIMMs will work for 32gb in one-slot systems, as far as I know nobody sells individual 16gb laptop DIMMs (or non-registered 16gb desktop DIMMs, for that matter.)

My guess is that they'll work, but right now have to get the Precision (etc) if you need more than 16gb in a laptop.
