    hi!
I'm experiencing some problems with swaping my keyboard. I wanted to change into backlit one.
The problem is - when I plug in the new kb, nothing happens. I can't type anything - nothing appears. Did anyone experienced similar issues?
I am not able to check if kb is ok - but vendor said it's new

Was the keyboard specifically for the E6220. If I recall things correctly, some changes were made between Latitude generations and not all keyboards are compatible with every model.

Also, check the usual, make sure the cables are properly inserted and in the right orientation too. If it's like the M6700 keyboard, there is also a daughter board under the keyboard where the backlit and keyboard cables connects, that board then connects to the motherboard. If there is one, check that all cables are properly inserted there as well.

The info on the back says it's for 6420 and E5420. I thought it wouldn't be a problem since these are twin models. Is there only one, specific backlit keyboard that works with E6220?
Could you please take a look at these photos?

PC doesn't detect the keyboard at all - you can't do anything - neither turn on the backlit nor just use it to navigate or type.
P.S. Of course, cable is in the right orientation :)

My bet would be that Dell changed something in the design of their keyboards between the 62x0 generation and either the 63x0 or 64x0 generation. This would lead to the keyboard not being recognized properly (or at all) on your laptop since it doesn't transmit its signal the same way the old keyboard used to.

Was there even a backlit keyboard model offered for the E6220, ideally, that is what you'd want to look for.

And here comes the question to the audience. Does anybody know what's the part number of E6220 backlit keyboard?
