    Hi there,

I ordered an e5570 with 6-cell 84Wh battery, but unfortunately when the machine arrived I found that there was only a 4-cell 62 Wh battery inside. Taiwan DELL said 6-cell battery is not available until 2016 winter (which sounded super weird because firstly the Taiwan DELL website showed it's available and secondly I wasn't notified its unavailability when I was placing order...) and they wouldn't let me return the machine. I got some (pretty lame) refund in the end, but this was really unpleasant experience.

Right now all I'm concerned about is whether I can replace the battery when the 6-cell is available. There is something that looks like an HDD rack blocking the extra space for 6-cell battery. Is it safe to remove it? (I have no experience beyond replacing laptop memory so... :()

My E5570 has the 6 cell battery. However, you can't have a 6 cell battery and a 2.5" storage drive because the larger battery occupies the space used by the drive. This should be evident from the internal photo in my E5570 review and might be the cause of confusion. The battery part number is WJ5R2.

Thanks for the part number John! (But I can't find it in the accessory section even in USA Dell site. I wonder if anyone has ordered this battery alone from Dell?)

My configuration was SSD only, yet they still put an empty 2.5'' rack inside. Do you think this will prevent me from upgrading to the 6-cell battery?

By the way, could anyone recommend a good 8G or 16G DDR4 memory option for E5570? Dell's charge for higher memory was kinda outrageous so I only opted for a single 8G memory.

I've just checked the components list for my E5570 and that says the battery is HNH3K (which isn't the part number printed on the battery). The 2.5" rack is removable.

The RAM is DDR4 SODIMM. The Kingston Hyper-X will run slightly faster than Dell's RAM but you would need to replace both modules. Otherwise Crucial (Micron) is a safe choice. My two most recent purchases from Dell both came with Micron RAM.

    Hi!
A little more information and things to consider.

    4-cell battery: type 6MT4T, DELL part number 07V69Y -- 7.6V 8000mAh (62Wh)
    6-cell battery: type WJ5R2, DELL part number 04F5YV -- 11.4V 7260mAh (84Wh)

Batteries voltages are not the same. It might be possible that not only batteries differ, but power subsystems too. I would prefer to have more information on the subject to avoid damaging the system.

See internals picture here for 6-cell battery. Note that part number is on the small label in the right bottom corner.

Talking about batteries... What's good place to buy spare battery?
I've got £149.63 quote from Dell for spare 91Whr battery for my 7510.
On the internet there are many offers at £70-80 range (not genuine I assume?)

I wouldn't worry about the different voltages. I expect that the power socket on the main board has both voltages and the battery connector uses whichever is appropriate. It would complicate the inventory to have different mainboards to suit different batteries.

Dell's prices for replacement batteries tend to be exorbitant. Sometimes you can find a genuine one for sale on ebay because the seller changed from a big battery to a small one (but usually people want to move in the other direction). The more reasonably priced batteries currently available are "compatible". I would be happy to get one from a specialist battery supplier who have a good reputation to preserve. Their prices are still high enough to use good materials and make a profit.
