I just got a Latitude E5530 with a 2.5GHz i5. At idle, the package and core temperatures are around 50c. The room temperature is about 23c. Is that normal? It seems very high.

I'm using CPUID HWmonitor to read the temperatures.

    Thanks

What are the load temps? 50C isn't exactly cool, but it's not really high either.

Ok, I had some time to do some more research, and it looks like 50C is about average for that processor in any brand of laptop. So, nothing to worry about.

As a reference, I ran Prime95 for about 45 minutes. The temperatures peeked at 77C and were usually close to 70C. On the low side of average for the i5 in a laptop.
