    Hi,

I came across a E5430 on ebay for 550$ canadian so i decided to buy it. Since there is little to no information on this particular model and ugrading it i decided to make this thread to help users.

First i have tried a quad core 3610QM in it , the cpu works great,
The 3610qm i have had running now for 2 weeks and it has no heat issues whatsoever , under full load the laptop has no trouble cooling the cpu.
as far as power consumption goes , this will increase power consumption under full load therefore you will see a slight decrease in battery if that is your usage pattern.

    i have ordered a 3820QM ( same 45W as 3610QM ) to try.

i will also be trying msata in it in the next few days.

The msata is key for me because i run virtual machines and need as much mobile space as possible , There is absolutely no information on the internet on whether this model supports msata or not.

ill post back with my results as soon as i get them. :)

M-SATA does not work , the 3820QM does work.

I tried MSATA in all 3 slots and none of them would show it.
