DVD Drive Shows as Removable Device

I installed a new copy of Win7 Pro 64 on my Latitude E6410 and now my DVD drive shows up as a removable device and can inadvertently be removed by selecting the wrong device when 'Safely Removing', let's say a usb drive.

I there a way to make the dvd drive show as a fixed drive? Have done a bit of research and what I have found so far indicated some sort of registry tweak. Is there another way?
