I just went to burn my first file on my new e6400 and I received a message saying that my DVD drive was already in use. How could it already be in use when I wasn't using it?

Perhaps this is why the latency is so bad?

    I've never seen that message.

I wonder if one burning application has taken ownership of the blank disc while you are trying to burn the disc with another application.

I don't have any burning software installed and used the built in Vista burn software. When that window pops up, it gives you the option to override and burn anyhow so it worked. After that, I burned another disc and the message did not pop up that time.

I did not that my latency dropped to less than .5ms for a few seconds while burning the disc and then it went back to the usual 9ms.
