Bought a Latitude E5440 laptop from the Dell Outlet. It did not come with an optical drive (I knew this ahead of time). What model DVD burners are available that are compatible with this laptop? The one I am currently looking at is this one: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Electronics-Internal-SN-208FB-BEBE/dp/B00GXNPJI6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1427902119&sr=8-1&keywords=slim dvd burner

Only downside is that the reviews say no screws came with the drive. I don't know if this will be an issue.

(Note: I prefer an internal drive over a USB one so that is one less thing I have to remember to pack when on the road.)

The internal notebook optical drives use a standard form factor but have three possible thicknesses: 12.5mm, 9.5mm and 7mm (very rare but I've got one in my Toshiba R500). So check the height of the bay and buy a drive with the appropriate thickness (I think it is 9.5mm). If you get a drive that comes with a black bezel it will probably look OK even if it is not a proper match for the notebook.

It will slot into the space and work but you make need to improvise to hold it into place. Notebook manufacturers usually make a fixing bracket (a piece of bent metal) that is screwed onto the side of the optical drive and then receives the screw that fixes the srive into the chassis. You may need to figure out an alternative method of holding the burner in place.
