    Hi,

To identify the driver you may try the steps mentioned below.

Right click My Computer > Select Properties > Choose Hardware Tab >Click on Device Manager > Right click on the wireless card >Select Properties > Choose Details Tab > Select Hardware Id from the list. Make a note of the hardware ID.

You may reply with the hardware ID so that I can suggest the driver, or you may search the details using online search engines to find the details and download the driver accordingly. Please find below, the link for the Dell support & driver download page for E6400, you may use the same to download the driver.

I hope this helps. Please do write back in case you need any further assistance.

    Thanks and regards

Hi thanks for your advice but it seems that the wireless pro driver from intel is not compatible with windows 7 32 bit only 64 bit which i find strange. I think i might just install windows xp back on it - but once again thankyou for your time

Windows 7 is supported on the E6400, so there shouldn't be any issues. Are you sure the wireless card is Intel? Open the access cover on the bottom of the computer (unscrew the single screw in the middle and slide the cover downwards), and the WLAN card is at the bottom, towards the DVD drive.

Let us know what it says on the card so we can suggest the right driver.
