Dell latitude e6400 running Win7. Started showing the blue screen and crashing yesterday. It stays running and fully functional in Safe mode.

The event viewer says if is a kernel power issue error 41. The battery is fully charged and the computer is connected to a UPS

I am not a technician and have absolutely no idea what to do with this information or how to fix the issue. Any help will be appreciated

    Some initial thoughts:

    1. If it runs OK in Safe Mode then maybe the problem is a corrupted driver. Try reinstalling the drivers for the various bits of hardware.

    2. Run HWiNFO, enable sensors and look at the temperatures. Over 90C can create problems (but the fan should be very noisy).

    3. Look at the HDD SMART data (the HDD properties in HWiNFO should show this). Are there reported errors? If the numbers don't make sense then look for a diagnostics software on the HDD manufacturer's website.

    4. Does this notebook have the Nvidia GPU or only the Intel integrated graphics?

In case it is a faulty driver; use BlueScreenView to find out which one.

I have loaded HWiNFO but am not sure where to look. I can't see anything specific to HDD. There is a lot of Drive info but nothing specific showing errors. I do have Nvidia

OK. It may be easiest to use Active SMART to view the HDD SMART data.

If you can note down the BSOD error code then you can put it into your favourite search engine and it might lead you to the problem.

Also search for "Nvidia GPU BSOD". I'm wondering if the GPU itself is dying since it is of this generation with known packaging problems but this page I found has highlighted some other issues.
