    Hello all,

I've just been reading on the HP forum, and checked this via Hp's service pdf.
It seemed the Hp 8730w has two different motherboards. One for Quad Core CPU's and one for Dual.

My aim was to get a good dual now and hopefully upgrade to a quad down the line when their costs went down.

With the HP this isn't an option. I'm just wondering if the Dell has the same issue?

    Regards,
    Simon

    Great! Thanks for this..

Can someone do the same for the Dual Core CPUs? Just to check it's the same Model number?

    Regards,
    Simon

Humm. I hope this isn't the same thing reported on the Hp.
There's a guy on there who tried upgrading to a Quad from a Dual and it didn't work. Hp told him he'd have to buy a whole new motherboard that was Quad supported. :(

So if someone has a dual and wants to upgrade to a Quad, it is doable either as a field service upgrade via Dell or elsewhere?

Do both use the same Heatsink/Fan or does the Quad have a beefier unit?
