Does Dell Vostro 1400 support PC2 6400 memory?

    I went to Crucial.com to see what memory module can support my Vostro 1400. 4gb is the maximum but I don't know if I should get PC2 6400 or settle with PC2 5300.

    IT will support it, but mind you, the motherboard (santa rosa chipset) is limited to a 667mhz datarate anyway...

    You'd get no gain from using DDR2-800

    Some makes of 800MHz RAM will run at CL4 at 667MHz, so you will get a miniscule performance boost. If you buy the faster RAM then it would be ready for your next notebook 9unless it uses DDR3).
