    Hi,

I am thinking of purchasing an E6400, would anyone know if the E6400 can be docked using some of the older Dell docking stations or is it only able to be docked in a specific E6400 station.

My current PC is a Latitude D630 and I have a docking station for that so it will save me the expense of a new E6400 docking station if there is a workaround.

    Thx

The E-series Latitudes are only compatible with E-series docks. The setup of the actual dock is very different; I have a D-series dock in front of me and the "keys" that are on each side of the actual docking port on the bottom are differently shaped and sized and in different positions. It also looks like the actual port connector is different. The new E-series dock also factors in battery size, because the D-series Latitudes didn't have the batteries in the back like the new ones do. So the new dock is physically deeper than the old one.

I'm not currently aware of a workaround; even if it existed, it looks it would be too awkward to be feasible.
