Sorry to bring up such an old thread, but has anyone tried this Monoprice adapter? Does it work okay and carry audio as well from their Latitude?

I'm looking to use this with my Latitude E6500.

    Hi guys,

I live in Taiwan where most of these adapters are designed or made. They cost about $6-$7 at retail here, so they really are marked up elsewhere. I'd offer to ship them, but the price including shipping would probably be similar to those online.

    Kind regards

I didn't have an HDMI cable so I bought a displayport -> HDMI cable from them instead

    http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10246

Everything worked right out of the box. Check their ebay auctions - you may be able to get it cheaper than on their website.

Nordberg, was sound transmited through the monoprice DP-->HDMI cable you posted? And what is your configuration? E6400 or E6500? discreet nVidia quadro or Integrated intel gfx? WinXP or Win7-x64? Im trying to get digital sound from my E6400 with discreet nVidia gfx and Win7 (x32 or x64). You seem to be one of the few people to digital audio over displayport and I want to get this working with the first adapter I buy.

E6400, integrated intel graphics. Worked with default drivers from dell's website in both vista 32 and win7 32. Sound goes through fine to my monitor and gets passed out via spdif (monitor has built in pass through for HDMI digital audio) to my speaker system.

All I had to do was plug it in and it worked - no changing setting necessary. Once I plug it it automatically mutes the laptop audio and send the signal over displayport. I've had it drop out once or twice and had to re-select the correct audio out, but that was during the week or so I was using vista with it before moving to win 7.

I can also report audio is being transmitted automatically on my E6500 with integrated Intel on Windows 7 x64 with the Monoprice DisplayPort to HDMI adapter.

Thanks for the quick reply guys. There is an S/PDIF device that shows up in my playback devices with the standard Win7 drivers, but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed. For some reason the fact that i have discreet nVidia graphics scares me that it might not work (and with my luck it wont). I'll report back whether or not my config works
