I´m thinking about getting a Dell Vostro 1510, I have just seen the new Latitude E5500, now in doubt.

Is it worth the 250 euros price difference?

Could someone give me some reasons to buy one or the other?

Thanks in advance, any ideas welcome.

I don't have all the answers, but to start with the new Latitude is based on Centrino 2, while the Vostro is the older Santa Rosa. Battery life is supposed to be about 25% better with the Centrino 2, and if you are choosing integrated graphics, the Intel X4500 is twice as powerful as the older X3100 found in the Vostro. The X4500 can play full hi-def movies, and is equivalent to the 8600gs.

I also believe that LED backlighting is available in the model you are looking at, whereas the Vosto only has CCFL.

Its up to you whether or not it is worth the difference.

I own Dell Vostro 1400 , & I saw the Vostro 1510 with my friend, & I WAS SHOCKED ... Comparing to my vostro 1400 , the 1510's Built quality is WORSE, gets MUCH hotter (we're both integrated cards !!!) ... speakers are not great , BIOS version is not excellent ...

so I recommend you to GO for the Latitude ...

    good luck :)
