So I initially did a copper mod and repasted the CPU with AC5. The temperatures on all 4 cores were very similar under Prime 95 load.

Now I just added another thin piece of copper to the GPU and tested out with Prime 95. The temperature for Core 3 is like 10-12C degrees higher than that of Core 2. When I repasted again, the same situation.

I must note that the Core 1 temp is also significantly higher than that of Core 2.

Right now with prime 95, temps stay:

    87, 92, 84, 95

When idle however, the temperatures are very consistent and similar. I had this happen to my Core2 Quads and Xeons, but not with the Clarksfield...

Radical temperature changes. Here. I get that the extra copper could raise imbalance of cpu contact with the heatsink, but how does it make 3rd core's temperature only radically lower?

I just got rid of the extra copper and added very very little extra paste where it was not covered fully. Now the temps are fairly consistent across the board. Tis strange..

So the problem went away when you removed the copper? I'd guess your copper is too thin or took thick and the heatsink isn't flat on the CPU.

Yeah I now only have 1 copper and it works fine. I guess it being too tall could somehow screw up the "flow" of the liquidity of AC5. IDK.
